Information pursuant to art. 13 of European Regulation 679/2016
Pursuant to art. 13 of European Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter referred to as GDPR), and in relation to the personal data whose Edijs Vavers will become available with the insertion of the same in the “Events”/“Contacts”/”Join” form on the website available at the addresses: sigma1europe.eu/events, sigma1europe.eu/contact-us, sigma1europe.eu/join, and to the personal data sent to the email addresses indicated on the same site, the following is communicated.
Data Controller and Data Protection Officer
The Data Controller is indicated as Edijs Vavers (hereinafter referred to as “Data Controller”) with registered office at address.
The Data Controller, with reference to any request concerning the management and processing of personal data, can be contacted via the following email address: edijs.vavers@ut.ee.
Edijs Vavers has not appointed a data protection officer (RPD or DPO, Data Protection Officer), not falling within the categories of subjects required to appoint one, nor applying any of the conditions set out in Art. 37 of the GDPR.
Purpose of data processing
The processing of data acquired with the aforementioned methods has the purpose of providing information concerning the services and activities of Edijs Vavers, such as, for example, the services offered, and allowing Edijs Vavers to respond to requests for information received.
Personal data may be processed by means of paper or electronic archives and managed with methods strictly necessary to meet the purposes indicated above.
Legal basis of processing
Edijs Vavers processes personal data lawfully, where the processing is based on the express consent to receive information concerning the services and activities of Edijs Vavers, or to allow to respond to requests for information received, in order to fulfill the duty of cooperation and contractual information in accordance with the provisions of the Law.
Consequences of failure to communicate personal data
With regard to the personal data requested, failure to communicate the same prevents the Edijs Vavers from sending information – with the methods indicated – concerning the services and activities provided by the same.
Data retention
The personal data, subject to processing, will be retained for a period of time not exceeding that necessary to fulfill the purposes for which they were collected and/or subsequently processed, or to fulfill any retention obligations prescribed by law.
Data communication
Personal data may be communicated to:
1. Judicial or administrative authorities, for the fulfillment of legal obligations.
2. Subjects who process data in compliance with specific legal obligations;
3. Categories of persons in charge involved in the organization of the site (administrative, commercial, marketing, legal, system administrators) or external subjects (such as third-party technical service providers, hosting providers, IT companies, communication agencies).
Dissemination of data with automated decision-making processes and Profiling
Personal data are not subject to dissemination or to any fully automated decision-making process, nor to profiling, or any form of processing carried out in an automated form concerning personal information in order to evaluate aspects of the personal sphere of an individual and/or a group of individuals, including for advertising and/or marketing purposes.
Rights of the interested party
The rights recognized by the GDPR include:
– requesting the Data Controller access to personal data and information relating to them; the modification of inaccurate data or the integration of incomplete data; the erasure of personal data, the so-called right to be forgotten (when one of the conditions indicated in art. 17, paragraph 1 of the GDPR occurs and in compliance with the exceptions provided in paragraph 3 of the same article); the limitation of the processing of personal data previously provided (when one of the hypotheses indicated in art. 18, paragraph 1 of the GDPR occurs);
– request and obtain from the Data Controller – in cases where the legal basis of the processing is consent, and the same is carried out by automated means – a copy of the personal data provided and of those generated in the execution of the relationship (and not of anonymous data or data not exclusively concerning the person of the applicant) in a commonly used and machine-readable format, also for the purpose of communicating such data to another data controller, the so-called right to portability of personal data. The exercise of the right to portability does not automatically imply the erasure of data, which must be the subject of a specific request. The Data Controller will not be able to issue a copy of the data if these have been deleted at the request of the applicant or the retention period has expired, as specified above.
In order to guarantee security and prevent illicit activities, the release of a copy of personal data is subject to the passing of procedures to verify the identity of the applicant by the Data Controller. In any case, the Edijs Vavers is not responsible in any way for the processing carried out by the individual interested party or by another subject who receives the data subject to portability;
– object at any time to the processing of personal data in the event of particular situations;
– withdraw consent at any time, limited to the cases in which the processing is based on consent for one or more specific purposes and concerns common personal data (e.g. address of residence, date of birth, etc.), or particular categories of data (e.g. data concerning health status, racial origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual life, etc.). Processing based on consent and carried out prior to its withdrawal is in any case lawful;

– lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Personal Data Protection Authority – www.edps.europa.eu).
