The SIGMA-1 EUROPE COST Action CA23156 will co-organise the 34th GP2A Conference on Medicinal Chemistry, taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 26 to 28 August 2026. The conference will be hosted by the City of Gothenburg, the Västra Götaland Region, and the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Gothenburg.
The GP2A – Group for the Promotion of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Academia is a member-led network connecting medicinal chemists from universities and research institutes across Europe. Founded in 1992, the network has grown from a regional initiative into a broad European academic community.
The conference will present recent advances across medicinal chemistry, including pharmaceutical and physical chemistry, molecular pharmacology, natural products, pharmacognosy, and drug discovery.
As part of the collaboration, SIGMA-1 EUROPE will support a dedicated medicinal chemistry session highlighting recent discoveries in sigma-1 receptor research. The event will create new opportunities for collaboration between the GP2A and SIGMA-1 EUROPE communities and further strengthen the pan-European S1R research network, particularly in areas relevant to WG1.
